                   Nutrition in Plants

*Nutrition
-Intake of foods and its utilisation by our
    body.

*Mode of nutrition
             (a)Autotrophic nutrition
             (b)Heterotrophic nutrition

*Autotrophic nutrition
-Mode of nutrition where organism prepare
     its food themselves.
    -(Auto- Self, trophic- Nourishment)

*Heterotrophic nutrition
-Mode of nutrition where organism depend       on other for food.
    -(Hetero- other, trophic- nourishment)

*Photosynthesis
    - Preparation of food by green plants.
    - Use CO2 and water.
    - Prepare in presence of sunlight and
      chlorophyll.

- Carbon dioxide+Water  -------->
                                        Carbohydrates  +  Oxygen

*Stomata
-Tiny pores present on surface of leaf.
   - It helps in
                    - Transpiration (removal of water
                       from plant through leaf)
                    - Gas exchange

*Sun is the ultimate source of energy.

*Chlorophyll- Green pigment.
                         - Present in leaf.
                         - Do photosynthesis.

*Requirements of
  photosynthesis                              source
  Carbon dioxide                         Atmosphere
         Water                                           Soil
       Sunlight                                        Sun
   Chlorophyll                                     Leaf

*Parasite plant-
Plant that derive readymade food from
        other plants.
         - Example- Cuscutta(Amarbel)

*Host plant-
             Plant on which parasite climbs.

*Insectivorous plant-
           Insect eating plants.
           Example- Pitcher plants

*Saprotrophic nutrition
Mode of nutrition, where organism take
in nutrients from dead and decayed
          matter.

*Saprotroph
Organism that take in nutrients from dead
      and decayed matter.
      Example- Fungi.

*Lichen-
      -Symbiotic relationship between algae
      and fungi.
      -Fungus provide shelter, water and
       mineral to algae.
     -Algae provide food to fungi.

*Nutrients replenishment in soil-
       -By adding fertilizer and manure.
