Which element has more charge on nucleus?
Which element has more charge on nucleus?
Nucleus present at center of an atom. It comprises of two subatomic particles, protons(p+) and neutrons (n). Proton is positively charged whereas neutron is chargeless.
Means proton decides charge on nucleus.
Number of protons in nucleus of an atom= atomic number of that atom.
If atomic number of an atom is greater than number of protons also will be greater. If protons are more than charge in nucleus is also more.
For example- between lead(Pb) and Tin(Sn)
Atomic number of lead(Pb) =82
Number of protons in nucleus of lead=82
And
Atomic number of tin(Sn) =50
Number of protons in nucleus of tin=50
Hence nucleus of lead contains more protons. Also we can say lead has more charge on nucleus than tin.
Hope you understand.
